How it Works
Step 1
A referral partner shares a case
Most of our cases come through PI firms that refer overflow to National Advocates. Once a case is shared, we intake the client and get to work. You're brought in as Of Counsel from the start.
Step 2
We help you work the file
We handle the work-up alongside you: care coordination, records and bills, lien management, and demand preparation. By the time the demand is ready, the file is complete.
Step 3
You negotiate the demand
We send you the demand package before it goes out. You weigh in on valuation, flag state-specific issues, and take the lead on negotiating with the carrier when the case calls for it. Your name is on the letterhead.
Step 4
You have first refusal on filing
If the case does not resolve pre-suit, you decide whether to file. We only bring you cases we believe should be filed. If you pass, you are out with no obligation.
Meet Ryan Hecht
Founding Attorney at National Advocates

Ryan Hecht is a personal injury attorney who helps injury victims across the country get the compensation they deserve. Before founding National Advocates, he spent years on the civil defense side, preparing cases for trial, taking depositions, and learning exactly how carriers decide what to pay and what to fight.
He left to fight for plaintiffs. Ryan built National Advocates on the belief that people who've been injured deserve representation that is as sophisticated, prepared, and tenacious as what the other side brings — regardless of where they live. Every case that comes through National Advocates is supervised by Ryan directly. That's not a marketing claim. It's how we operate.

Cases we handle
Personal injury law covers a lot of ground. Here's what we handle, and how we approach each case.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Cars, trucks, motorcycles, rideshare vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Whether the other driver was distracted, intoxicated, or running a light — if they caused your injuries, you have a claim. We handle the full spectrum.
Slips, Trips & Falls
Property owners are legally responsible for maintaining safe conditions. When a wet floor, broken step, or unlit walkway puts you in the hospital, that responsibility doesn't disappear. We hold them to it.
Dog & Animal Attacks
Attacks happen in seconds and leave permanent physical and psychological harm. In most states, owners are strictly liable regardless of the animal's history. We move quickly, document thoroughly, and pursue full compensation.
Catastrophic Injuries
Some injuries change the entire trajectory of a life. Traumatic brain injury, spinal cord damage, amputations, and severe burns all require long-term thinking, specialized experts, and preparation that most firms don't invest in. We do.
Wrongful Death
Losing a family member to someone else's negligence is devastating in every dimension. We take the legal burden off families completely — investigations, insurance handling, estate coordination — so they can focus on each other.
Complex Injury Matters
Multiple defendants, layered insurance coverage, high-value claims with disputed liability. These cases require a level of strategic thinking that most local firms aren't built for. We are.
Attorney Fees
We work the file alongside you from intake through demand. We handle care coordination, records, bills, lien management, and demand preparation. You review the demand and lead negotiations with the carrier.
National Advocates pays all case costs. Your pre-suit share comes directly from us, and you never negotiate fees with the referring firm.
| Your role | Your share of fees |
|---|---|
| Pre-suit demand negotiation | 1/8of fees |
| Litigation | 1/2of fees |

If a case resolves pre-suit after your demand review and optional negotiation, you earn 1/8 of attorney fees. If you file and litigate the case, you earn 1/2 of attorney fees. National Advocates pays your share directly.
You do. We present you with a worked-up file. If you evaluate the case and decide to take it to litigation, great. If you pass, your involvement ends with no obligation.
National Advocates works with PI firms nationwide as referral partners. When those firms have overflow, we step in. By the time a case reaches you, intake is done and the file is complete.
Clean. Organized. Every relevant document in one place: intake notes, insurance coverage summary, medical chronology, records and bills, demand package. We don't send you a mess to sort out.
Light. A demand review takes most Of Counsel attorneys under an hour. Demand negotiation, when we hand it to you, is a few touches with the carrier. The heavy work — intake, care, records, demand drafting — is ours.
You're our named Of Counsel in your state. You're not collecting cases from us as referrals; you're part of how National Advocates operates locally.
You're the attorney of record in your state, so your existing PI malpractice coverage applies to the work you do on each file. We recommend confirming with your carrier that co-counsel arrangements are covered — most standard PI policies include them. We're happy to provide a sample engagement agreement for your review.
